Submodule 1 — Plain Form Basics
Dictionary Form Basics
Learn the plain/casual dictionary form for all verb groups. Contrast with ます form and understand when each is used — casual speech, subordinate clauses, and plain-style writing.
ない Form — Plain Negative
Learn the ない form (plain negative) for all verb groups. Use it in casual speech and in grammar patterns like 〜ないでください and 〜なければなりません.
た Form — Plain Past
Learn the plain past tense た form for all verb groups. Practice the alternation rules (く→いた, ぐ→いだ, etc.) and use it to form 〜たことがある and 〜たあとで.
Submodule 2 — Connecting Sentences
て Form — Connecting Actions
Learn the て form for connecting multiple actions sequentially. Master the て form alternation rules. Use 〜て to express doing A then B.
てください — Polite Requests
Use the て form + ください to make polite requests. Learn the difference between commands (てください) and suggestions (ましょう). Practice in classroom and daily situations.
Submodule 3 — Extended Connectors
てから — Sequential Actions
This lesson focuses on the grammar point てから, which connects two actions to show that the second action begins only after the first is finished. You will practice forming sentences with this structure, understand its nuance compared to other sequential connectors, and apply it in common daily contexts such as routines or instructions.
ながら — Simultaneous Actions
Practice forming sentences that combine a main action with a secondary action occurring at the same time, using ながら attached to the stem of the first verb. Focus on correct stem formation and natural word order, and distinguish from sequence or cause-effect patterns.
たり〜たりする — Listing Actions
This lesson introduces the たり〜たりする construction, which connects verbs in their た-form (past tense) plus り to list example activities. The pattern ends with する (or します in polite speech). Students will learn how to express non-exhaustive action lists, such as 'I do things like reading books and watching movies.' Practice includes forming and combining verb pairs correctly.
