当てはまる (atehamaru) — to apply (a rule); to be applicable; to come under (a category); to fulfill; to hold true
- Used when a rule, condition, or description fits a situation.
- Often used in academic writing to check if something matches a criterion.
- Example: この条件に当てはまる学生は少ない。(Kono jouken ni atehamaru gakusei wa sukunai. — Few students meet this condition.)
当然 (touzen) — natural; as a matter of course
- Describes something that is expected or logical.
- Example: 努力すれば当然結果が出る。(Doryoku sureba touzen kekka ga deru. — If you work hard, results naturally follow.)
必然的 (hitsuzenteki) — inevitable; necessary

- Can be physical or metaphorical (e.g., in progress or health).
- Example: 研究が後戻りしないように注意する。(Kenkyuu ga atomodori shinai you ni chuui suru. — Be careful so the research doesn't regress.)
